Twisted's "On Muddy Pond" will go down as a classic. The pier idea was awesome. It was too much watching one of the shotgunners walk through the water to get to the pier instead of following the dry path. I laughed my ass off over that one. One of the biggest challenges of Twisted's pond was keeping your spent mags from dropping in the drink. Don't sell stage 5 short. Looking for the steel through the windows is always a blast. You guys missed a fun one.

A good match indeed. It was my first match and I had a blast. Can't wait for the next one. I will definitly be back out. Everybody was really nice. I kept hearing Mr. Twisted yell out, "Yamama!", every time he passed by. He cracked me up.

The stages were a kick. Since we recently has some rain here in So. Cal. (no, really we had rain) there was standing water in some of the courses. I think it added a special touch. Reflections of the targets that were placed at waters edge and big splashes from the low shots. Mr. Twisted even had the one of the shooters boxes positioned on a strip of palettes out in the water (guess where yer mags droped if you did not throw them to dry land?).

I shot a total of 190 rounds. I am eagerly awaiting the results and hoping I did not come in last!

Just got back from Mr. Twisted's "Steel Madness" shoot.

It was GREAT! It was the most fun I've had on a range in a long, long, LONG time.

I finally was able to put a face (and and 'actual' name) with many of the people on this forum--Railroader, XDBrodway, Redhorse, etc.--and it was a pleasure to meet everyone. What a great group of people!

In short, it was a day spent with great people, at a superbly devised tournament. The range safety was outstanding, and the weather was near-perfect. Plus, it wasn't at all "gamey" like so many other tournaments. There was a real atmosphere of friendly competition and encouragement, without idle haggling over scores and times. Who could ask for anything more?

It was a pleasure to meet all of you.

Mr. Twisted, thanks again for putting on such an outstanding competition. I'll be back!!

For those of you who don't know, Steel Madness is held the first, third and fifth Sunday of every month. You can check them out at www.ssashooter.net

I look forward to meeting more of you there.

Dang we had fun.

Thanks Mr. & Mrs. Twisted for everything. $25 (plus ammo) very well spent. I could write 4 pages of stuff about today's match. You styled me and my friend, Sean (he's out of his mind thinking about it!).

Next time, I'll bring my wife. She could really benefit from a day like today. It's safe and fun. Hey, if a 9 year old can do it; she can too.

Best part by far was meeting so many cool people, and meeting so many hs2000talk members (musta been a dozen of 'em). Missed Jamescal and Core Dump - we'll hook up one of these times.

Some hs2000talk members were wondering if this was XD only - HECK NO! Most of us XDers were together in 2 or 3 groups - and there were many groups. There were even some (very skilled) guys going through the course with semi-auto shotguns with speed-loaders (most impressive). Also wheelguns and semi-auto pistols of all kinds and shooters of all ability levels.

Both Sean and I felt that our shooting improved leaps and bounds from the beginning of the day to the end. Thanks again Twisted.

See you next time I put the cash together (unless I get the flu again).

Well, I have a hard time giving it a score since I've never been in any kind of match like that before. It is kind of hard to call it a match. I can't say I was feeling competitive. I was just having a hell of a time. The whole thing was just kick in the ass fun. The night shoot was beyond fun. What is the quote, "having this much fun is kind of freaky" (or something like that). The wife keeps calling me at the office excited about her soon to be OD XD and always sneaks in something on the M6. She placed in the 150ish range. Does that sound like someone who thought they were in a competition? No, I would say last weekend was more like going to Twistedland and the night shoot was the E-ticket ride. The XD Challange was a blast. For gun people, Disneyland aint to only reason to come to California.

XDBroadway - I doubt you know what you missed. Next time we need to put you in quarentine a week before the match. There were a few of us there, Jamescal, computer geek, etc.

Being my first time out I was only planning on watching but ... I'm glad I brought my stuff. I had a great time. I think it's safe to say I'll be joining you guys as often as work and my budget allows. Not to mention, it gave me a great chance to show me what I need to work on, strong hand only and weak hand only were horrendous. You needed a calendar to clock my times on the weak hand shots. The shotgun on our first stage was a nice touch. The ghost rings on that thing are great.

Mr. Twisted - I really like the way you took all of us newbies into our own group. Also, we were talking about bringing more ammo. After I got home I counted it all up, I only used about 250 rnds. Not as bad as I thought.

Thanks again guys for a great day,

Scott
