The Shooting Sports Alliance (SSA) is a group of dedicated men and women shooters of all ages and ethnic backgrounds who enjoy action shooting and socializing. We have shooters from all walks of life, using all types of guns, from pistols to shotguns and rifles.

Our organization is famous for welcoming the novice and beginning shooters to a diversified program of shooting with practical applications and overtones. We use an all reactive steel format with occasional paper thrown in under timed fire conditions to challenge the shooter. We are proud to say we’ve trained many a grand master from their beginning roots; and can take most any dedicated shooter to whatever level of achievement he or she desires (we’ve trained and worked with many national and international champions over the years). I’m proud to say our organization is the best equipped privately owned shooting club in the West Coast, if not the country. If we don’t have it, it probably doesn’t exist (yet) or you don’t need it.

A Little History

The club was started by my wife Norjean “Nora” and myself Ron aka “Mr. Twisted” in February of 1988 after the demise of the ill fated Pacific West IPSC club out of San Gabriel, California. Like the phoenix rising out of the ashes, the SSA was born from a humble beginning of four pepper poppers and a few target stands to what we have today in four 40ft storage containers. Joining us from early times is our dedicated and talented Range Master, Jim Robison, Firearms Training and Gunsite instructor. Also in the administrative group is Bryan Whited, assistant match director and competitive shooter. Jerid Johnson has joined the team as the SSA Webmaster and rounding out our team is Tyler Jung, CRD (chief range dog) and his team of specialists.

Over the years we’ve called home, the San Gabriel Gun Club, Santa Anita Firing Range, Long Beach Pistol Range, Burro Canyon Outdoor Range, and since 1995 our finest home to date – Mike Raahauge Shooting Enterprise in Norco, California.

What is our Goal?

Our goal is to be of service to our shooters and to the shooting community. Quality and excellence in what we do is what we as a group strive for. The dedication and professionalism of our members is second to none.
